North London International School The North London International School is a co-educational independent international school for both local and expatriate students aged from two to 18 years. It is one of only a few schools in the UK to be accredited to offer all three programmes of the International Baccalaureate Organisation. The principal aim of the school is to encourage each student to develop both as an individual and as a responsible member of the community.
The Upper School in Friern Barnet prepares students for the MYP certificate and the IBO Diploma is followed in Years 12 and 13 in the new Diploma Centre building. Students who embark on the IB Diploma go to The Hague in January to attend the Model United Nations Conference. Students wishing to enrol for the International Baccalaureate Diploma can enrol on a foundation year if they need extra support with their English. For students aged 16+ coming from abroad, the school can arrange homestay accommodation with carefully selected local families.
The Lower School, (ages 4-11), and Kindergarten (ages 2 to 4), are housed together close to Woodside Park underground station. From age 3 upward s children follow the broad, balanced and relevant curriculum of the IBO Primary Years Programme (PYP). During term time trips to Normandy are organized for all students in Years 6, 7 and 8. Skiing trips are also organised during the Easter holidays. The school arranges exchange visits with its sister school, The Dwight School, in New York. Art, drama and music are also taught, and productions are staged in the newly equipped hall. There is a school orchestra and choir and many students learn to play an instrument. There is also a wide range of extra-curricular activities and a homework club.
Soccer, cricket, hockey, netball, basketball, swimming, tennis, athletics and cross-country are the principal sports. The school has its own sports ground with good facilities. Matches are arranged with other local and international schools and the school has an excellent games record.
